Supporting AI Clothing is a statement against the status quo – a demonstration at the power we all posses as individuals to influence meaningful changes on a grand scale. We stand alongside those who wish for change and dream of a better world.
Operating sustainably is an important criteria at AI Clothing where we strive to ensure every aspect of our clothing’s journey is as environmentally and humanely conscious as possible. The fashion industry is rife with the exploitation of workers and environments, more often than not brands choose to maximise profits at the cost of human life and environmental destruction.
Fashion brands wield a significant amount of power when it comes to influencing culture. It is time that fashion brands take charge and use that power to end the excessive polluting businesses have grown comfortable with.
With this in mind, we at AI Clothing wish to influence positive changes in the fashion industry, to show that it is possible to create without taking advantage of, or destroying communities.
Shipping is No Issue
The global shipping industry contributes to roughly 3% of global green house gas (GHG) emissions and is an unfortunate necessity in our day to day lives. At AI Clothing we acknowledge our part in participating in the GHG emissions due to shipping. To help minimise our impact of this we ship all of our goods using 100% compostable bags.
Not only are these bags completely biodegradable, the companies that we source these bags from each commit a portion of their resources to helping solve environmental problems:
- The Better Packaging Co. has committed 10% of their profits to support various areas of research in environmental protection and alternative packaging solutions.
- noissue helps offset GHG emissions by planting trees in areas of need with every order made.
- r3pack helps restore New Zealand's waterways by supporting the Million Metres Streams Project.
Our Products
At AI Clothing we believe profits should not be made at the expense of another persons ability to live a safe life, and oppose the exploitation of factory workers and farmers in the fashion industry. This is why we are dedicated to using only sustainably and ethically sourced materials. All of our designs are designed and printed in New Zealand, with our clothes themselves being purchased from AS COLOUR, a New Zealand owned and operated clothing supplier.
AS COLOUR works closely with the clothing manufacturers and cotton farms in their supply chain, performing several in-person visits each year to ensure that the workers who create each garment are being treated fairly and that the environments in which they operate are not being negatively impacted. All of these factories and farms must meet the regulations protecting workers as outlined by amfori.
By supporting AS COLOUR we are able to support the improvement of workers rights and the conditions that they operate in. We know that there is still a lot of work to be done to make business practices better and more sustainable, but we believe that this is a good place to start.
AI Clothing is working towards the ability to produce and manufacture all products within New Zealand. This will ensure AI Clothing has the cleanest, safest supply chain possible. We are excited to be sharing this journey with you!
